Kiwanis Foundation of San Diego

The Kiwanis Club of Tierrasanta, San Diego, California was chartered in March 1976. In 1982, the club initiated a scholarship program to provide financial assistance to graduating seniors at Serra High School (renamed Canyon Hills High School in 2021) in Tierrasanta. A scholarship fund was placed with the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha District Foundation. The District foundation administered the fund until 1997 providing earnings from the fund to apply as annual scholarships. The Kiwanis Club of Tierrasanta incorporated the Kiwanis Foundation of Tierrasanta, San Diego, California as the charitable arm of the Kiwanis Club of Tierrasanta to expand the scholarship program to broader charitable purposes and objectives in service to the club, the community and the surrounding area as part of Kiwanis International. The Foundation currently awards $8,500 annually to graduating seniors in Tierrasanta and the surrounding area. The motto of Kiwanis International is “Serving the Children of the World” and the purpose and mission of the Kiwanis Foundation of Tierrasanta is to assist needy persons, especially young people; to assist youth in attaining academic, athletic and vocational excellence; to aid disabled persons in regaining happy, useful lives; and to provide scholarships to local school students.
